Xếp tôm vào hộp đựng, chú ý xếp tôm thành 1 lớp với phần đuôi tôm quay vào trong. Vắt nước cốt chanh lên tôm. Sau đó thêm muối, tiêu hoặc các loại gia vị khác cho vừa ăn. Bạn có thể thêm một chút nước để hấp tôm dễ hơn, nhưng không nên cho quá nhiều vì sẽ dễ làm thành tôm luộc thay vì tôm hấp.
Dùng dụng cụ gắp đảo nhẹ để tôm thấm đều gia vị, sau đó xếp tôm lại như bước 1, với phần đuôi tôm quay vào trong. Đóng nắp hộp lại hoặc dùng màng bọc thực phẩm hộp lại.
Bật lò vi sóng ở nhiệt độ cao và quay cho tới khi tôm có màu hồng và thịt tôm săn lại. Thời gian để tôm chín sẽ tuỳ vào công suất của từng loại lò và tuỳ vào độ to, nhỏ của tôm. Khi chín, tôm sẽ cuộn lại giống như hình chữ C. Tôm nhỏ thường mất khoảng 2-3 phút. Tôm vừa mất khoảng 3-5 phút. Tôm to mất khoảng 6-8 phút. Một số loại tôm có kích thước rất lớn sẽ mất khoảng 8-10 phút để hấp chín.
Lấy tôm ra khỏi lò vi sóng và để nguội khoảng 1-2 phút trước khi đổ phần nước thừa trong hộp đi. Rắc thêm chút tiêu và muối cho vừa ăn và vậy là bạn đã có một món tôm hấp hoàn hảo và nóng sốt rồi.
