Essential for Pinewood Derby- Best purchase ever
Last year we struggled getting the axles on our son's Pinewood derby. It took forever to get them right and the wood started to split. I am pretty sure my son learned some new words from his dad. during the hour we struggled to get the wheels on without destroying the car. This year I purchased this tool because i figured it couldn't make things worse than last year. This went above and beyond my expectations. In less than 10 minutes (which included reading the instruction and finding a surface to rest the car on ) all 4 wheels were on straight and fitting much better than last year. My husband high-fived me as he praised this tool. So this tool works and reduced my husband's stress. If you have never built a pinewood derby car or have had issues putting axles on, buy this and save yourself the headache.

An important tool for victory!
I'd say this is one of the most useful tools for making your pinewood derby car go fast. You'll have all your wheels equally spaced and straight. Be sure to get the pro driller tool, too. This allows you to simply "push" in your axles. No hammering and screwing up the alignment!

It works like butta
Must buy. I had no issues. My son (we) came in first in speed at our PWD ... fastest single and avg speed. No more cracking the wood, which was the case the last two years with MUCH stress. Perfect alignment of wheels. Very happy worth every penny and more. I dont understand the comments about not fitting when placing second wheel. No issues at all. Like butter baby. Order the #44 bit from Amazon and bore out first. Good luck!!! Daddy hero!!!

The Best
Anyone that has helped build a Pinewood Derby car know the difficulty in the process of installing the wheels. They need to be straight. With this tool you simply hold the tool in the groove at the bottom of the car. hold the wheel with axle in position and push the nail into position. No hammer or tools required other than this guide. It even allows the proper spacing between the car body and the wheel. Best investment in building a Pinewood Derby you can make.

Inexpensive Tool Ensures Wheels Are Properly Installed
This little inexpensive tool is now a part of our yearly toolkit. You can't see it from the picture, but there is a small ridge on the bottom, running from the opening on the piece of metal down the plastic to the other side. This ridge fits perfectly in the front and back notch when you are installing the wheels. To install the wheels, put the ridge in the notch and have the metal piece against the side of your car. The nail and wheel will install to the car and the metal piece and the ridge ensures the nail goes straight down the notch. Be sure to hold your thumb or finger on the axle inserted to hold it down, ensuring the ridge stays in the notch. The metal piece ensures you have proper spacing so your wheels won't hang up on the car. Handy tool to have, takes no time at all to install wheels.

Must have for builders!
This is a great little tool. Started installing the axels first without it and the wood around the slots started splitting. I thought there was not going to be anyway to install the axels without tearing up the car. Then I found this tool. Its fantastic and I was able to get the axels on without wrexking the car by using it. This tool is a must for and pinewood derby car builders. Don't wait until you wreck that sweet sweet paint job trying to install the axels. Order it now so all that hard work doesnt get flushed down the toilet.

Very helpful!
It was sooo much easier putting the axles on this year than last year with the help of this! The wheels went on straight and were solidly set so I didn't need glue or anything. My son's one wheel was doing something a little weird during the race (wobbling a little), so I think maybe it wasn't pushed in far enough but he also dropped it, so it might not have had anything to do with the tool. Anyway, this saved a bunch of time and energy and was easy to use.

Makes inserting the wheel axles so fast and easy
If you have a cub scout, buy this now and hang onto it, because you'll need it every year for the Pinewood Derby. I bought it after his third year, and wish I had gotten it sooner, because it makes it so fast and easy to insert the wheel axles straight into the body of the car. Definitely worth the money- get it as a Tiger and you'll use it over and over again.

Made the last step of our derby car a success
After spending a few hours with my son on his first pinewood derby car, I didn't want to mess up the last step of inserting the wheels and axles. This tool really helped, especially after I found a video on YouTube that demonstrated it. I was worried that other reviewers said it didn't work on both sides, but it worked fine for me. The nail sits on the top of the axle slots, so the inserter guide of the tool still works when you flip it. For the first side, I just used firm pressure pushing down on a hard surface (making sure that I kept my thumb firmly applied to the tool to keep the inserter guide in the right place). I would check periodically that the nail was going in straight and slightly adjust if needed to make it straight before continuing. When I flipped the car to do the other side, I made sure not to push on the installed wheels. To do the final bit of hammering (with the back of a screw driver), I set the car between two boards so that no pressure was being put on the wheels on the other side. That allowed me to tap the nails until the wheel was flush with the spacer on the tool. It all went smoothly, and I'll use this tool for future derby cars. Good purchase!

Worked Like A Champ
Took the worry of screwing up the heart and soul of the Pinewood Derby Car, the axle slot. Nothing worse than building the car, polishing the axles, putting graphite on the wheels and axles only to destroy and split the axle slot and your kid looking at you like your a loser (yea, I'm that guy) Won't happen with this product! Instead of pushing the nail in on a table, I lightly tapped it in with a hammer, at least to get it started. Spend the $10 and don't ruin your son's car.
